The Case Against
Higher upfront cost. Aluminum bifold doors cost more than vinyl alternatives of the same size — typically 30–60% more.
Difficult to repair. If an aluminum profile gets damaged, it usually needs replacement rather than repair. (This is rarely an issue in normal use — aluminum is very durable.)

Fade and brittleness over time. Vinyl exposed to UV radiation fades and becomes brittle over 15–20 years. In high-UV climates (Southern California, Arizona, Florida), this accelerates.
